Wow! What an unforgettable show the Oscars were this year. Overall, I thought this was one of the best Oscars in the last decade. I thought Jimmy Kimmel was a great host, I am still cracking up over him playing Matt Damon off the stage while he was presenting. The little bits where Seth Rogen, Charlize Theron, and Javier Bardem shared who inspired them and then presented with them was beautiful. Who didn’t love seeing Michael J. Fox in the DeLorean? Following the show, I headed down to Hollywood to attend the Live with Kelly After Oscar Show 2017. Which meant much like the stars who attended the show, I was up all night.
This was my third year attending the After Oscar show and it is still a very exciting experience for me. Tickets for the show are given out for free by 1iota. Last year my Mom and I had seats six rows back from the stage. This year we were placed further back on the orchestra level even though we were one of the first people to arrive. Even though we weren’t as close we still had great seats.
Ryan Seacrest was Kelly Ripa’s cohost this year. They made a great pair for the After Oscar Show. On commercial breaks, they were both engaging with the audience and a few times they shook hands and took pictures with fans in the front. The show started out with a fun montage where Kelly traveled from New York to Los Angeles by way of famous movies. Following that both Kelly and Ryan shared their thoughts on envelope gate.
Jerry O’Connell represented Live with Kelly on the red carpet while Kelly was doing her own interviews elsewhere. They showed a clip of his interviews and he came on stage to talk about his experience. He then ran backstage and surprised Kelly, Ryan and the audience with Sunny Pawar from Lion. Sunny is so adorable and seemed to have a great time waving to the crowd.
Of course, Kelly and Ryan discussed the fashion along with a few invited guests. It was no surprise to me that Taraji P. Henson was a favorite of theirs. Both my Mom and I thought she nailed the classic Hollywood look. We were also big fans of Brie Larson’s dress. Even though it is not a dress that I would wear myself Emma Stone’s dress was a fantastic choice for her. My best-dressed choice for men is the always dapper Leonardo DiCaprio!
Other than Sunny no other Oscar attendees came to the show which was a disappointment. However, it is such an incredible experience to get to be inside the Dolby Theatre hours after Hollywood’s biggest night. The stage design for the 89th Academy Awards was stunning. Throughout the show, I was blown away by the various beautiful designs. We only got to see a few of the stage designs in person but still, what we saw was gorgeous! Following the end of the taping, we were able to walk down to the front of the stage.
What were your thoughts on the 89th Academy Awards?
