After being taken back to Stars Hollow at the Gilmore Girls A Year In The Life Premiere I had a chance to step into a recreation of this beloved town. Netflix created the ultimate fan experience on the campus of UCLA with the Gilmore Girls Four Seasons Festival. Why the four seasons festival? The new revival of Gilmore Girls features four episodes which take place during each of the four seasons. Free tickets were provided for fans for either Saturday the 19th or Sunday the 20th.
The tickets for this event quickly ran out and when I arrived at UCLA there were hundreds of Gilmore Girls fans already there. 350 fans were let into Stars Hollow every 45 minutes to explore and have fun. Before my friend and I were let in we were given a wristband and a map of the town. We were in the third group let inside the town. The first group had the chance to meet Keiko Agena (Lane) as they were walking around. The second group had a chance to meet Yanic Truesdale (Michel) and my group had the chance to meet Rose Abdoo (Gypsy). It was so fun to see citizens of Stars Hollow at the gazebo or by the Stars Hollow sign.
Upon entering the town I immediately stopped for a picture by the town sign. Next, my friend and I went to the gazebo for pictures. We could have waited there to get pictures with Gypsy when she returned but we wanted to use our 45 minutes wisely and get the most out of our experience. The lines to meet Gypsy or take a picture in the photo booth were so long that we would have missed out on other things. After the gazebo we stopped by the post office. You could choose one of four postcards to send to someone as a reminder about the show. Gypsy was filling out a postcard next to me while I was writing one.
Once we were done at the post office we walked over to Taylor’s Olde Fashioned Soda Shoppe for a sweet treat. The candy bags were filled with items like taffy, a candy cane stick, a candy necklace and a few other treats.
Across from the soda shoppe was Kirk’s button emporium. They had such a great selection of buttons to choose from. It was a hard decision on which one to get since we could only pick one. I ended up with a Team Jess button for fun.
You can find a similar Luke’s button here.
They had a Luke’s coffee stand which had a long line as well. Getting Luke’s coffee was high on my list of priority. They only had cold brew when I stopped by but I was just so happy to get a Luke’s coffee sleeve.
You can find a cute Luke’s coffee mug here.
After I had my Luke’s button it was time to get some coffee. Coffee plays a big role in Gilmore Girls. I have to admit it was really the Luke’s coffee sleeve that I wanted more than the coffee. When I friend and I got up to the counter we were told they only had cold brew left. Normally with the warm Southern California weather iced coffee is fantastic. However, it was surprisingly cool yesterday so I had been looking forward to a warm cup of coffee. Even though I was a little cold drinking the iced coffee is was still great. How many times do you get to have coffee from Luke’s in Stars Hollow? When in Stars Hollow do like the Gilmore’s do.
You can find a cute InOmnia Paratus shirt here.
I loved that they had a photo op with an umbrella that said InOmnia Paratus. Do you remember the Life and Death brigade from Rory’s time at Yale? I love the episode where Rory jumps off the scaffolding with an umbrella. A lot of the fans were taking jumping pictures with the umbrella but those never turn out very well for me.
The last thing I did before leaving Stars Hollow was to check out Kim’s Antiques. There were fun Gilmore Girls items to look at in here. Netflix did such a great job with this event. I think they knew that if they built it the fans would come. I am so happy I was able to experience this recreation of a fun town.
Are you excited for Gilmore Girls A Year In The Life?
I AM SO JEALOUS! Omg. I love all of these pictures. I have been binge watching Gilmore Girls because I am so excited for the new episodes!
