Earlier this week I saw the Finding Neverland Play at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, California. The show is based on the movie with the same title. I have seen the movie several times and really enjoy it so I was excited to check out the show. My Mom and I were able to get great seats for an amazing price!
My Jessica Simpson jacket & Kate Spade Glitter Keds are my favorite items right now.
Finding Neverland Play Review
Finding Neverland tells the story of the man who wrote the beloved play, Peter Pan. Playwright J.M. Barrie is struggling to come up with a new hit story when he meets four boys who will change his life forever. The story will touch your heart and awaken the child inside us all. While the movie is more of a drama the play is full of funny moments. This was the first time I can remember that I’ve seen a show where the audience laughed so much. Between the jokes and the fun music, I had a smile on my face throughout most of the show.
Even thought I was excited to watch the show I was anxious to see if it would live up to the movie. While the show tells the same story as the movie it is done in a completely different way. There is no singing in the movie but the show is a musical. I was nervous that the songs might mess up the flow of the story or not fit quite right.
The music is a wonderful addition to this inspiring story. I fell in love with the lyrics of the songs and have been singing them ever since I saw the show. Both my Mom and I were very impressed by the vocals of all of the cast members. The voices of the four Davies children were beautiful.
None of the sets were elaborate but they are used in such clever ways that truly enhance the scenes. I was thoroughly impressed by the acting. One of my favorite characters was the Producer. The role of the producer has been expanded for the show in a wonderful way. I knew I would enjoy the show but I was surprised that by the end I had decided that this is my now favorite show.
It is hard to compare the show and the movie because they are so different. I am having a hard time trying to decide if I like one more than the other. All I can say is that I love them both, but for different reasons.
Would I Recommend Watching The Show?
Yes! This show is perfect for everyone, especially those who are young at heart. All you need is faith, trust & tickets! Finding Neverland will be at the Pantages Theatre now through March 12th. You can find discounted tickets here.
