A couple of years ago I was in paradise at Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa in Hawaii. As my friend and I were walking around the resort I saw so many people who had a drink in a pineapple. When we ordered lunch and I asked about the pineapple drinks. It seemed like a fun thing to do while on vacation. There was something so relaxing about drinking out of a pineapple while enjoying the pool and/or the beach.
I recently realized that just because I’m not in Hawaii it doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy a drink in a pineapple. So the next time I was out at my local grocery store I picked up a pineapple. My plan was to enjoy a smoothie in my paradise cup while reading under some palm trees. Who says I can’t create paradise at home?
The first thing that I needed to do was cut the top off the pineapple. I attempted to make as even a cut as possible. However, my pineapple was a bit lopsided so it was a challenge. I chose to keep my top to serve as a lid.
Once the top had been cut off I kept the pineapple standing up while I started turning my corer. When the corer got close to the bottom I turned the pineapple on its side. I have noticed that it is much easier to pull out the corer this way. Next I set aside the slices to use for my smoothie and turned the pineapple upside down to get any remaining juice out.
I quickly put together my smoothie using my NutriBullet. The smoothie I tried was not bad but I don’t think it was good enough for me to recommend. I suggest checking out pinterest for some great drink choices to use. Or if you’re a Disney fan you might want to make some Dole Whip!
I brought my beach chair, a book and my drink to enjoy while under some palm trees. Think about what relaxes you and create a space to enjoy a break. Make your own happy place!
