Let’s continue on with where we left off, so after we finished exploring Adventureland we walked all the way around to Discoveryland which was a long walk. My friend and I were going to try to ride Space Mountain: Mission 2 before watching Disney Dreams but the walk took way longer than we anticipated so we headed towards the entrance of Discoveryland to get spot for the show. We got a spot outside the entrance to Discoveryland where we could see the castle but had plenty of space to sit down. If right in front of the castle is already taken when you show up to get a spot for Disney Dreams then I would encourage you to move closer to Discoveryland for a good spot.
Disney Dreams is the nighttime spectacular at Disneyland Paris and it is fabulous. Disney Dreams is a combination of fireworks, a water show and features really cool displays on the castle that go along with the show. It is one of the shows that is kind of hard to explain but it was just incredible. This is a must do during your trip because it is so fun to watch and it reminded me of all the reasons why I love Disney. After Disney Dreams we decided to check out the shops on Main Street which were filled with so many great souvenirs. Some of my favorite items that I left Disneyland Paris with are ornaments: I got a mickey mouse shaped macaroon ornament as well as an adorable ball shaped ornament that had the Disney characters in iconic Paris locations like Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower. My other favorite purchase is a black jacket with a unique zipper but the main selling point for me was that it had three Eiffel Towers with bows attached to a pin on the front. As much as I enjoyed the attractions I really enjoyed all of the wonderful things that I found shopping at Disneyland Paris so if you are looking for something special make some time to look in more than one shop.
After we shopped it was time to say goodbye to my sweet friend who traveled to see me. We walked her to the train station which is right next to Downtown Disney and decided to get dinner at Annette’s Diner which was a 50’s type restaurant located in Downtown Disney and has a menu full of American cuisine. I had a burger, fries and a chocolate milkshake which was delicious! I read a lot of blogs about Disneyland Paris prior to my trip and had been warned that the food at was not that fantastic. All in all I would agree the food in general was nothing impressive but Annette’s was one of the better meals that I had there so that might be a great option.
Downtown Disney here has a lot to offer from shopping, to eating and entertainment. They do have a World of Disney but the size is not comparable to the World of Disney stores in the states and I found better merchandise in the parks but it is always worth a look because you never know what you might find. I did not spend a ton of time in Downtown Disney other than for dinner twice, the second time was at Earl of Sandwich. I did go in a few of the shops but the shopping overall in Downtown Disney was extremely unimpressive and if you have limited time it is not the place to spend it when you could be in the parks.
The next morning we had breakfast at Hotel Cheyenne where we were staying which was very average and nothing special so if you stay on property please eat breakfast at the Disneyland Hotel. We went back to Disneyland Park to enjoy early entry which was a lot of window shopping to make sure that I was not missing out on any fabulous souvenirs. When Walt Disney Studios opened we went back to ride the Rataouille ride again because we just loved it. We walked around and took a few more pictures but we had done everything we wanted to in that park the day before so we headed back to Disneyland Park. At the time I was in Guest Relations at the Disneyland Resort and was a tour guide for the Walk in Walt’s Disneyland Footsteps Tour which provides Guests with lots of information on Walt Disney. There is a restaurant on Main Street, USA in Disneyland Paris called Walt’s which is a very cool tribute to Walt Disney.
Once I found out about Walt’s I knew that I had to eat there and I thought it would be a great topic to discuss with Guests on my Walt tour who loved to talk about anything and everything related to Walt. The parlor on the bottom level is where you check in and is decorated with a Victorian theme. There is a table with black and white pictures of Walt from various stages of his life. Over the doorway leading into the next store is a sign that says Lilly’s Boutique which pays tribute to Walt’s wife Lillian. The dining takes place upstairs and each room has a different theme. There is so much to see in this restaurant that it is hard to follow the host to your table because all I wanted to do was explore.
After walking up the stairs we were led down this hallway to our dining room. We were sat at a table next to a window and spent some time people watching on Main Street during lunch. I had the salmon which was delicious and I would certainly recommend it. Also I had a dessert that had sorbet and some ice cream inside an edible, beautiful dish. This lunch was such a treat for so many reasons and I am so happy that this was a part of my Disneyland Paris experience. I am also happy to say that the dessert was as delicious as it looks in the picture. It was truly a one of a kind experience and I am so glad that my Grandpa and I have these wonderful memories.
This day we made time for Disney Magic on Parade which I really enjoyed. I was able to get a front row seat across from City Hall about thirty minutes before the parade started which was great. The parade was adorable and I loved it! The floats were so fun and so different from the ones that I have seen at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World in the recent years. The first float had the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella, The Blue Fairy from Pinocchio, and had Merlin from Sword in the Stone on the back. I was excited to see two characters that are never seen so the Disney nerd inside of me was happy. The float was followed by carriages that had most of the Princes and Princesses in them.
The next float was shared by the characters from Frozen and Tangled. That float was followed by Mary Poppins and Burt with some dancers. Next was the characters from Alice in Wonderland followed by an adorable float themed after this movie on the front half and Pinocchio on the back half. Then the toy soldiers from Toy Story appeared and were followed by a float with the characters from this movie on the front half and characters from Winnie the Pooh on the back. This was followed by a float that had the Lion King characters on the front and the Jungle Book characters on the back. The characters from Peter Pan were next followed by the final float which Mickey Mouse and all of his close friends.
The parade is absolutely adorable and I would highly recommend that you make time to see it. This was one of the last things that I did at Disneyland Paris and this is where the story ends. If you have read all five parts and have questions over something that I did not mention feel free to leave a question and if I know the answer I will be more than happy to share! I hope you enjoyed the pictures and if you are planning a trip I hope that this helped you in your travel planning.
