I went to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom when I was working at Walt Disney World. A few months earlier my friends and I went to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary-Halloween Party and had a great time. Both the Halloween & Christmas parties are a special event that are not included with a regular ticket. You can enter the park with your event ticket starting at 4pm but the party doesn’t officially begin until 7pm.

I want to start off by saying that I really enjoyed the Christmas party. However, I am disappointed that the only way to see the Christmas firework show and parade is at the party. I love that at The Disneyland Resort I can see the Christmas parade and firework show any day of holiday season without having to pay extra.

There is a lot more than the parade and fireworks to see/do at the Christmas party. As a cookie lover one of my favorite parts of the night was getting unlimited hot chocolate and snicker doodle cookies throughout the park. If you want you can bring a small bag and have them load it up with cookies for you to take with you.

Some of the characters, like Mickey and Minnie Mouse, will dress up in their holiday outfits. A few characters who are rarely seen in the parks do meet & greets during the party. I don’t think I had ever met Abu from Aladdin before so that was fun to see him. We also saw Jack Sparrow who was really fun to talk to.

My friends and I did not ride too many of the attractions during the party. The ones we did ride had short wait times which was fabulous. Our priority though was seeing the characters and getting a good spot for the parade and fireworks. Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmas Parade is one of my favorite parades. The floats are filled with holiday cheer. One of my favorite parts is when the wooden soldiers pass by. Santa Claus himself even makes an appearance in the parade.

Throughout the holiday season Cinderella’s castle is decorated with Christmas lights. The lights on the castle are one of the holiday decorations that are not exclusive to the Christmas party. They can be seen on any night. The lights on the castle are the perfect touch to go with the fireworks. The holiday season is one of my favorite times to be at the Disney parks.

Currently tickets for the party range from $91 to $99 depending on the date. As much as I enjoyed the party I do not think that it is worth the price. I find it crazy that the price for the party which is only four hours long is almost the exact price of a one day ticket where you can spend well over twelve hours having fun.

My recommendation is to go to Magic Kingdom on a day that the party is not happening. That way you can still see the beautiful castle and some of the other Christmas decorations. Visit EPCOT and for no additional charge you can watch the Candlelight Processional. If you have some extra time stop by some of the hotels like the Grand Floridan to see their gingerbread houses.

What do you love about Disney during the holiday season?

my belle elle
