AgeofAdaline

I am so excited to finally get to write about a movie screening that made me smile!  Due to Gossip Girl I haven’t been a big fan of Blake Lively which made me hesitant to see The Age of Adaline but it is so hard to turn down an opportunity to see a free movie.  I am really glad that I decided to go to the screening because it is my favorite movie I have seen at a free screening this year.  While watching this movie I began to wonder if Blake had been born at the wrong time because she has a look that fits so well with the early 1900’s.  Her character Adaline was born in 1908 and it is assumed she is in her 20’s when she stops aging due to getting struck by lightning after a car crash.

After the car crash Adaline did not realize that she would no longer age from that day on but after a few years she realized she was not aging.  By the time her daughter is almost an adult people begin to become suspicious about Adaline’s appearance and she realizes that she must leave and change her identity.  She did all the research she could on her condition and when she found nothing she realized that if she was questioned by authorities they will want to run medical tests and she will have no life.  She spends six decades of changing locations as well as her name but makes sure to always keeps in touch with her daughter.  Just before Adaline is about to pick up and leave San Francisco to start a new life in Oregon she mets Ellis, a charming man that she begins to date.  Adaline is very hesitant with her love life because of her secret and is very reluctant to date Ellis.

Her daughter encourages her to stop running since anyone who was curious about her condition is dead and that it would be nice for her to have more love in her life.  Adaline decides to explore a relationship with Ellis and goes on a weekend getaway with him to his parents house for their 40th anniversary party.  Ellis’s father is William played by Harrison Ford (his skin looks really good in the movie) who recognizes Adaline.  She lies and says that Adaline was her mother.  William and Adaline were a couple when they were younger and she is terrified that he will figure out that she really is Adaline and not her daughter which would expose her secret.  If you want to know what happens from here you will need to see the movie.  I thought the movie was incredibly well cast and I thought that it was a very sweet and charming movie.  The Age of Adaline comes to theatres on April 24th and I would definitely recommend seeing the movie and would give it a 4.5/5!

For this particular screening I received an email from Regal Entertainment Group that I was invited to this screening because I am a member of the Regal Crown Club.  If you are not a member of the Regal Crown Club it is a free rewards program that gives you points for movie tickets and concessions.  In return you receive free drinks, popcorn and movie tickets when you reach certain levels.  I have been a member for years and love it because in addition to the perks I just mentioned you also get emails inviting you to free screenings.  In order to redeem the tickets you will need to create an account with Gofobo which is a movie screening ticket distribution website.  Also make sure to print out the ticket and arrive early as it is first come first serve and not everyone who gets a ticket is guaranteed to get in.  For more information on how to see movies for free please read this blog post: http://mybelleelle.com/movie-screenings/howtoseemoviesforfree/
