Getting Tickets To The Ellen DeGeneres Show

In the spring of 2012 some of my co workers were talking about going to a taping for The Ellen DeGeneres Show and I thought that sounded fun.  I researched on the internet to find out how I could submit for tickets and saw that there were no more tickets left for the spring shows.  Now that I knew where I could find the tickets I decided to check back in late summer/early fall to see about getting tickets.  I submitted for tickets to a show in October for my friend Caitlin and I and waited to see what happened.  A few weeks before the show date that I had selected I got a call from someone who works for the show who told me that I would receive two standby tickets and would not be guaranteed to get in.  I was informed that if I did not get into the show that day that I would get two guaranteed tickets for another show.  Deciding to go that day even though there was no guarantee of getting in is one of the best decisions that I have ever made.

Caitlin and I got down to Warner Bros. Studio very early to try and make sure that we would have the best chance of getting into the show.  When your get your confirmation in the mail from the Ellen show it will have parking instructions.  Once you park you will check in at the bottom of the garage and will be given a number.  You are welcome to leave to get food and then come back and line up in the correct order.  Make sure to bring a photo id for check in and if you like Chipotle there is one walking distance from the parking garage.  I would encourage you to bring a book or playing cards, anything you want to keep you busy.

The Ellen DeGeneres ShowWhen the time came for us to walk across the street and into the studio we learned that we would not be getting in the studio audience. When there is not enough room for the standby ticket holders you have to watch the show from the riff-raff room which is also the Ellen shop. While I was in the riff-raff room we were all given a number and then three numbers were pulled from a bowl and the winners were given two tickets to come back for Ellen’s 12 Days of Giveaways .  I was extremely shocked when my number was pulled and I still can’t believe that I got that lucky!  Caitlin and I were thrilled to say the least and jumped up while freaking out.  Colin Farrell was one of the guests on the show that day and during a commercial break he and Ellen came out to wave and say hi to us which was so cool.  Cody Simpson was the musical talent on the show that day so we all left with a free copy of his cd.

In November I got another call from The Ellen DeGeneres Show letting me know which date our tickets would be for so that we could plan our work schedules around it.  Just like the first time I got confirmation papers in the mail for the show and this time they asked us to bring a gift donation for Toys for Tots.  Bringing in one toy in exchange for all of the goodies is by far the best trade I will ever make in my lifetime.  The day finally came for us to go back to Warner Bros. Studio and we were full of excitement and anticipation of what would happen on the show.  We were so excited when Ellen announced that the guest would be Drew Barrymore and Cory Monteith.  Finally towards the end of the show came the moment that we were all waiting for.  The moment when Ellen would reveal what she had in store for us. My dad tapped the show and saw me for a quick moment so he paused the tv and took a picture of me.  Look in-between the lady in the white and the man touching his glasses, I am above his left shoulder.

Caitlin and I were incredibly blessed and grateful to receive a ticketmaster gift card, an Alternative Appearl gift card, tickets to a Fleetwood Mac concert, a closet makeover from the Container Store and a couch from Laz Boy.  If you go to a 12 Days show you will need to bring a pen to fill out paperwork for tax information following the end of the show.  Once that has been taken care of you will all file into a hallway where you will either receive the a gift card which I picked up for ticketmaster and Alternative Appearl.  We were given the tickets for the Fleetwood Mac concert, a cute small hanger which held the information for redeeming the closet makeover from the Container Store and a packet of information on how to order the couch from Laz Boy.

There is no guarantee of getting tickets to Ellen’s 12 Days of Giveaways but it can certainly happen to you.  She is known to give some of her audiences tickets to come back for a 12 Days show.  She often holds contests on Facebook to win tickets to the show and of course you might wind up winning tickets from the riffraff room like I did.  I wish you the best of luck and hope that you will get the chance to have the amazing experience that I did!  If you do not live close to Burbank you will want to get a hotel in the area.  I would encourage you to take the Warner Bros. VIP Studio Tour prior to the taping so that you can get the most out of your show.  http://mybelleelle.com/adventures/review-of-the-warner-bros-vip-studio-tour/ Universal Studios is also close by so that is another option of something fun for you to do while you are in the area.  Even if you do not have enough time to go inside the park you could visit their city walk for some dinner and entertainment!  Oh and if you are not from California I highly recommend that you make time in your visit for In-N-Out.  Now if you are interested in applying for tickets to the show please visit: http://www.ellentv.com/tickets/
