As Disney gets ready to release one of the most anticipated movies of 2017, Beauty and the Beast, merchandise is popping up everywhere. It should come as no surprise that The Disneyland Resort is taking advantage of the excitement for the movie by adding a limited time only Beauty and the Beast pop up restaurant in Fantasyland. Pinocchio’s Village Haus has been transformed into the Red Rose Taverne. This is the place to come to try a meal or treat inspired by the movie and the characters.

My visit to the Red Rose Taverne was the first official day that the Beauty and the Beast items were available. Two days before they did a soft opening to help the cast members get ready. The line was out the door and ended up taking an hour from when I got in line to when I got my food. I expect that the popularity will increase as word spreads about the food & the rose sipper cup. From what I’ve heard the rose cup has already sold out. I have not tried any of the meals like the Beast burger but I did try two desserts and the special rose lemonade.

The Grey Stuff

I have officially tried the grey stuff and it’s delicious! This grey stuff is different from the one at Be Our Guest at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. The grey stuff was not quite what I was expecting, but I still really enjoyed it. However, it is not a treat that is a must have every time I visit Disneyland. The grey stuff is very sweet and decadent. The base is a sugar cookie. The grey stuff has a consistency similar to frosting. The little beads on the top are like crunchy little cookie bites. Inside is red velvet cake with a raspberry filling. My Mom and I split it and it was still a lot to have at once.

Maurice’s Treats in Fantasyfaire is selling a grey stuff dip with their twists. I plan to check that out on my next visit to the park.

I give The Grey Stuff a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Lemon Rose Cake

Are you planning on visiting The Disneyland Resort soon? My Disneyland Planning Guide can help make your planning process easier.

My main reason for going to the Red Rose Taverne was to try The Grey Stuff. However, while we were there my Mom and I decided to also try the Lemon Rose Cake. Isn’t it beautiful? I thought it was a lemon flavored cake with a rose design. I was not expecting a strawberry filled center. The taste was too tart and very disappointing. That being said it seems like a lot of other people really enjoyed this dessert so don’t avoid ordering it just because I didn’t like it.

I give the Lemon Rose Cake 1.5 out of 5 stars.

Rose Lemonade in the Enchanted Rose Sipper Cup

As I got in line at the Red Rose Taverne I saw several people holding the enchanted rose sipper cups. I knew right away that I had to have one. They were sold out the following day and are now being sold on ebay and Amazon for crazy amounts of money. If you want a similar but affordable rose cup I found a cool one on Amazon.

I wanted an empty cup because the rose lemonade that comes with it covers the rose. Sure, once you drink it the rose will reappear but it will also be sticky. I think I would only ever have water in the cup if I end up putting a drink in it. For now I’m content just keeping it empty. The rose flavored lemonade is very sweet but is much better than I thought it would be. It is unique and worth trying at least once if you buy the sipper cup.
