Oscar Events Fans Can Attend

Finally awards season is upon us and I for one am thrilled about that.  The Golden Globes is the show that kicks off award season but the one I really look forward to is the Oscars.  This year the Oscars will be held on February 28th at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, CA.  I have looked forward to the Oscars every year since I was a young child.  Now that I am an adult living in the Los Angeles area I do my best to try and make sure that I am able to experience as much of the Oscars as I can.  There are several ways that fans can enjoy Oscar season in the Los Angeles area.  Even you are not in the Los Angeles area during the Oscars but will be visiting later in the year you can tour the Dolby Theatre and see where the show takes place.

Oscars Red CarpetIn 2013 I was blessed to get to sit in the bleachers lining the red carpet at the Oscars.  After the red carpet ended I got to watch the show from the El Capitan Theatre directly across the street from where the show was being held.  This is an incredible way to experience the Oscars in person.  While it is too late to try and win the bleacher seats for this year it is not too late to learn how you can do it next year.  For information on how you too can potentially sit in the bleachers lining the red carpet at the Oscars please read this blog post: How I Went to the 2013 Oscars Red Carpet.

Dolby Theatre

Last year I signed up to get a ticket to the Live with Kelly & Michael After Oscar Show which took place at 6am the morning after the Oscars.  The show is taped live from the Dolby theatre with all the Oscar decorations still in place.  The tickets for this show are free through a website called 1iota which gives out tickets for various shows.  For fans of the Oscars this show is worth going to because the experience of being in the theatre just hours after the Oscars is special.  Plus you never know what celebrities might show up.  While this does require staying up all night it is not an opportunity that you can have any other day of the year.  To read about my experience attending the show last year click here: Kelly and Michael Live After Oscar Show To submit a ticket request for this show please click here: http://1iota.com/Show/338/LIVE-with-Kelly-and-Michael—After-Oscar-Show

Jimmy Kimmel hosts a special live show that starts as the Oscars end.  As of now tickets to this taping have not been released but I will update this post as soon as they become available through 1iota.  If you are lucky enough to get tickets to this taping you will get to eat a catered dinner while watching the Oscars from Jimmy Kimmel’s studio.  Once the Oscars have ended some of the winners, nominees and presenters will come on his show for interviews.  I have not been to this taping before but I hope that it will work out for me to attend this year.  Be sure to check back here and on the 1iota website for tickets.  http://1iota.com
red carpet If you are in the Los Angeles area leading up to the show you can go to Hollywood and Highland the week before while they are setting up.  If you are lucky you might be able to get a piece of the red carpet while they are putting it down.  A few years ago my friend came in town to go to the Oscars red carpet with me.  She flew in a few days before the show and I wanted her to see Hollywood so we went to Hollywood & Highland.  They were setting up the bleachers and the red carpet when we passed by.  We were asked if we wanted a piece of the red carpet.  Of course we said yes and I now have that framed with my red carpet credentials.  You can walk around and take pictures of all of the Oscar statues that they will be setting up.  The portion of the red carpet that you can walk on will be covered up but still for big fans it is really cool to say you’ve walked on it.  While in the Hollywood & Highland area you can visit the Roosevelt Hotel which was the location for the very first Oscars.

Do you have an AMC theatre in your area?  AMC theatres have a Best Picture Showcase that offers fans the opportunity to see all of the best picture nominees in one or even two Saturdays.  Tickets for the 2016 Best Picture Showcase will be available for purchase as of January 20th.  In 2015 fans had the options of seeing four of the eight best picture nominees on two consecutive Saturdays before the Oscars.  Or fans could purchase ticket to see all eight movies in one day.  It is a commitment to spend your whole day at the movies but for those who like to see all of the nominated movies this is a great way to do so.  For more information please click here: https://www.amctheatres.com/events/best-picture-showcase

How fortunate you are to have been able to experience this first hand!! I know the excitement of the Oscars is still running in your blood!! I hope you get tickets to some of the events this year! Do you have a favorite person whom you want to see?

Okay, I don’t really watch awards show because honestly I find them kinda boring. However I will watch the before the award action just to see the fashions.

That is so cool, I love the oscars and would love to be able to see it live, in there. I am too far to even be across the street for it.

Excellent blog post! I went to the Golden Globes two years ago, and sat in the read carpet bleachers. It was amazing!
Love these Oscar ideas. I’ve used 1iota before and got tickets to TV tapings. I’ll have to try for some of the post-Oscars viewing shows!

The Oscars is so controversial this year! But it’s still awesome to be able to watch it live.

How fun! I have a friend who is a BIG fan of the Oscars. Every year she throws an Oscar party. I have to admit that I usually am not familiar with most of the movies nominated. Looks like there’s lots of fun to be had though!

I’ve covered the Oscars in the past and honestly, my favorite place to celebrate… Is in the comfort of my own home, in my PJs, eating sushi! LOL!

Wow I had no idea you could do all this. I love the Oscars. But I never really considered being in Hollywood during the event. I live about three hours away so I’ll definitely look into this for next year. Thank you for sharing.

How fun is this!! I have lived in SoCal my whole life and had no idea that as a fan you could do the activities you mentioned. Going to check out 1iota now!!

Sounds like you are going to have a world of Oscar fun. I watch them on TV but that is as close as I get.

I love all these insider secrets you tell us on the blog. I’m not sure I’d survive staying up all night, but I’d give it a go!
