This past March I was in Hawaii visiting my friend who lives in Australia.  We were staying in Waykiki and had decided to go parasailing early one morning.  When we walked back towards our hotel from the boat we passed a stage that had been set up for the morning talk show Sunrise.  Sunrise is a talk show in Australia who were filming in Waikiki for the week.  We stopped by to see what was happening and ended up on tv.  It helped that not too many people were around the filming area which I guess was due to the fact that they filmed in a touristy area and a lot of people slept in that day.

If you are ever on vacation or live in an area where a talk show is filming it is a good idea to look the show up on social media to find out what special guests will be appearing.  For some shows you will need tickets to go to the filming but for others you can just show up.  Sometimes you will get to see a free mini concert and you might even get some freebies.  By the time my friend and I arrived Carly Rae Jepsen was no longer performing but she was waiting around to meet the fans that had gathered.

In this particular situation a lot of luck was involved because I had not done any research to see what guests would be appearing on the talk show while I was in the area.  It just happened that they were filming in between the area that I went parasailing and my hotel.  It was also very helpful that they were welcoming to people just walking up to see what was going on.  There was no security trying to chase us away or barricades to keep us from joining the crowd.  We stopped to check out what was going on and my friend recognized Carly Rae Jepsen.  We noticed that a line had formed of fans wanting to meet her so we hopped in that line and were both able to get a picture with her.

After the show was over Carly Rae Jepsen, who had been the musical talent on the show that day, took pictures with all the fans that had lined up to meet her. My friend and her family knew that the talk show was filming in the area but we had no idea that we would be able to walk up and be on the show, in the background, and get to meet Carly. Carly was so kind and patient with her fans and it was a joy to meet her. Had she been enjoying the beach and not with the show I would not have bothered her but since she had made an appearance on the show and was willingly meeting fans I was not going to pass up the opportunity.

For fans of Carly Rae Jepsen interested in meeting her one of the biggest pieces of advice that I can give you is to follow her on twitter.  She is pretty good at mentioning if she will be at an event will have a meet and greet or an autograph session.  Another great opportunity for fans to find out information about possibly meeting Carly is by joining an app called Fahlo.  Fahlo was created to help bring fans closer to their favorite artists like Carly.  You get coins by following other fans, commenting on pictures and posts and different things like that.  You can spend the coins to get merchandise from your favorite artists store and you can even win meet and greet opportunities.  I tried out the app for around a month and while I think it could be great for some people it wasn’t a good fit for me.
