The Rose Bowl is an iconic football stadium in Pasadena, California. The stadium was built in 1922 and has since become a national historic landmark. This place serves as the home for the annual Rose Bowl Game. In addition to serving as the home stadium for UCLA football, it has also hosted numerous concerts, five Super Bowl games and even some Olympic events.

Have you heard of the famous Rose Parade? It is an incredibly stunning parade that takes place prior to the Rose Bowl Game on New Year’s Day. The parade is held in Pasadena and always involves the two teams who will be playing in the bowl game.

My first visit to the Rose Bowl was a few years ago when my parents and I went to a UCLA football game. One very important thing we learned was to avoid parking at the stadium in the future. For the game we parked on the nearby golf course and had a hard time finding our car after the game. It took quite a while to get out once we found our car as well. Please refer to the Rose Bowl website for additional parking information:

We had such a fun time at the game. I loved walking around to see the booths that had been set up. We all received a small blue hand towel with the number of a player who had recently died. I also picked up a free poster and a few other goodies. The food at the stadium was surprisingly good. Of course I loved the souvenir UCLA cup!

Be sure to check out the Court of Champions which you can see in the background of the picture above. It lists every Rose Bowl champion. This is by far the most special football venue that I have been to. Yes, part of that has to do with my love for UCLA and the state of California. However, since 1922 this venue has hosted some incredible athletes, musicians and moments.

Our seats were in the end zone which I really liked. I was very pleased with the view from our seat. It was a 7:30pm game which meant we got to enjoy the sunset. I was happy that we arrived well before game time so that we could explore the Rose Bowl without needing to rush. If you go to an evening event here I encourage you to bring a jacket. My Mom and I had sweatshirts on and long pants but still needed some hot chocolate. California cools down quite a bit at night.

In the future I would love to take a tour of the Rose Bowl. The tours are offered at 10:30am and 12:30pm on the last Friday of every month. The cost for an adult is $17.50 and $14.50 for a senior or child.

If you plan on visiting the Rose Bowl for any type of an event please be sure to take a look at their bag policy. Knowing what you can and cannot bring is helpful to know upfront. You can find information on that here.

Did you know that the Rose Bowl has also been used in film and television? You can see the Rose Bowl in The Rose Bowl Story with Natalie Wood and in Beverly Hills, 90120.
