This past week the 2017 Hollywood Bowl schedule was released and it has me wishing it was summertime already. Southern California locals love spending summer nights under the stars listening to music or attending one of the special events held at the bowl. One thing that I love about this venue is that they don’t just cater to music lovers. They host one of a kind events that movie lovers, like myself, cannot get enough of.

Here’s a List of 6 Events From the 2017 Hollywood Bowl Schedule For Movie Lovers

Sound of Music Sing-A-Long

This annual event is a favorite among locals. It is more fun than you would think to sing a long to this classic movie with thousands of other fans. Before the movie there is a costume parade that gives fans the chance to walk across the famous stage. Costumes range from people dressed up like Maria or Lisel to seven children dressed up in the curtain clothes. Sometimes cast members from the movie are able to attend as well. Another thing that makes this event so much fun is a prop bag. Everyone will get a bag and will be given instructions on what props to pull out and when during the movie. I went to this event in 2015. You can read about my experience here.

The Sound of Music Sing-A-Long will be held June 24th.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets™ and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban™ in Concert

These event is sure to have fans of the Harry Potter series screaming “Accio Tickets”. Last summer Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone in concert was one of the most popular events at the Hollywood Bowl. With the addition of the second and third movies to the line up my hope is that Harry Potter in concert becomes an annual event. Not only do you get to watch the movies but the Los Angeles Philharmonic will accompany the movies. This is a great way to relive this beloved series or introduce it to a friend or family member for the first time.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets™ in Concert will be held July 6th.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban™ in Concert will be held July 7th and 8th.

Mamma Mia!

This event doesn’t involve a movie but I know most film lovers also enjoy live theatre. Every summer the Hollywood Bowl puts on a live performance. This year a star studded cast will take the stage to perform Mamma Mia! The cast has not been announced yet, but expect to see some big names.

Mamma Mia! will be held July 28th-30th.

Raiders of the Lost Ark in Concert

This is another event where the Los Angeles Philharmonic will play the music live while you are watching the movie. Does it get any better than watching a classic movie with live music on a summer night with your family & friends?

Raiders of the Lost Ark in Concert will be held August 4th and 5th.

John Williams: Maestro of the Movies

John Williams has created iconic and beloved music for many movies. This is your chance to see him in person and hear the music he has created live. Clips from various movies that he has composed music for will be shown throughout the concert. David Newman will start off the show with other music from movies.

John Williams: Maestro of the Movies will be held September 1st-3rd.

Singin’ In the Rain in Concert

This is one of my favorite musicals. The dancing and the music are so much fun! What a great movie to end the movie events for the season with. Once again the Los Angeles Philharmonic will be at the bowl providing live music to go along with the movie.

Singin’ In the Rain will be held September 7th.

Is it just me or do you want tickets to all of these events too? For more information on the Hollywood Bowl you can click here.

Have you ever been to an event at the Hollywood Bowl? I’d love to hear about it.
